## Percentage Error Calculator

Approx value: Exact value: Error %

Percentage Error
 | Approx Value - Exact Value | = × 100 Exact Value

Substituting Values In Formula,

 | Approx Value - Exact Value | = × 100 Exact

 | Absolute error | = × 100 Exact Value

 = | Relative Error | × 100

The | | symbols is known as absolute value, therefore positive value remains positive.
 = Relative Error × 100

## How to calculate Percentage Error?

The percentage error is a calculator to calculate the error between the approximate value and exact value.

Formula to calculate percentage error is,

 | Approx Value - Exact Value | = × 100 Exact Value

The "|" symbols is known as an absolute value, therefore negative values become positive.
here,
Absolute error is the difference between Approx Value and Exact Value.
Dividing the absolute error by exact value we get Relative Error.
Multiplying relative error by 100 we get percentage error.

Example,
Mike does an experiment to find how long it takes a football to drop 5 meters.
Mike measures, football takes 2.6 seconds to drop 5 meters. which is an approx value.
Now, mike did some calculations and got the answer which is 3 sec which is an exact value.

Formula to calculate percentage error is,

 | Approx Value - Exact Value | = × 100 Exact Value

Substituting Values In Formula,

 | 2.6 - 3 | = × 100 3

 | -0.3999 | = × 100 3

 = |-0.13| × 100

The" | " symbols is known as an absolute value, therefore negative values become positive.

= 0.13 × 100
= 13.33%
